Unlike the previous reviewer, I found it to be far more than a list of books an no waste of time at all, and esp. enjoyed the case studies that followed several of the essays. I learned a great deal.
My only concer|||'An excellent beginning of an important series. The contributors practice a capacious view of book history, using to advantage a mixture of formats (chapters, case studies, etc.). Anyone interested in the field will benefit from the juxtapositions that occur
