I acquired this book for my child as a school read. She was required to read it in English rather than in Russian by her teacher||A clean new adaptation by the playwright Richard Nelson, is brisk, unfussily funny and steeped in just enough emotion to give it a gloss of tender feeling without drowning it in teardrops....
